S&T honors patent holders at Inventor Celebration Day

Missouri S&T’s office of technology transfer and economic development (OTTED) hosted the campuswide event, which recognized nine S&T faculty who earned a patent in the past year.

Father-son piano duo to perform at Leach Theatre

S&T’s Steel Bridge team earns second, qualifies for nationals

Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Steel Bridge Design Team earned second place at the American Society of Civil Engineers’ 2016 Mid-Continent Student Conference that S&T hosted this past weekend. By doing so, the team qualified to compete at the national event, which will be held May 27-28 at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Academy of Civil Engineers inducts nine new members

S&T Hispanic Film Series to conclude April 29

The Hispanic Film Series offered by the Missouri University of Science and Technology arts, languages, and philosophy department will conclude with a screening of the comedic yet bittersweet Mexican film “Paradise.” The film begins at 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, in Room 104 Physics Building on the S&T campus. The event is free of charge.

Missouri S&T co-sponsors IEEE SMARTCOMP 2016

Smart computing has weaved its way into people’s everyday lives, from heathcare to transportation, from security to social media, and Missouri University of Science and Technology is a leader in this growing field.

Missouri S&T is a co-sponsor of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International Conference on Smart Computing (SMARTCOMP 2016) held May 18-20 in St. Louis. Dr. Sajal K. Das, the Daniel St. Clair Endowed Chair and department chair of computer science at Missouri S&T, is on the steering committee and is the conference’s co-chair.

“We wanted to bring IEEE SMARTCOMP 2016 to St. Louis because Smart Living is one of our signature areas, and I think this will give Missouri S&T a lot of visibility,” says Das, who attended the first IEEE SMARTCOMP conference in 2014 in Hong Kong. “This conference will continue to grow over time.”

S&T announces Undergraduate Research Conference winners

The winners of the 12th annual Undergraduate Research Conference at Missouri University of Science and Technology have been announced. The conference, which was held on April 11 on the S&T campus, featured oral and poster exhibitions that represented work from students in nearly every major at Missouri S&T. Winners were awarded a cash prize of $750. Second- and third-place finishers received $500 and $250, respectively.
