Missouri S&T researchers win funding to improve kidney transplant process

With close to 100,000 people in the U.S. waiting for a kidney transplant and up to 20 percent of donated kidneys discarded for various reasons, fine-tuning the matchmaking between donated kidneys and transplant centers is a significant challenge. Researchers at Missouri S&T are investigating the ways artificial intelligence (AI) can support the process.

Missouri S&T geohazards expert wins Schuster Medal

Dr. J. David Rogers’ expertise and teaching in geohazards such as landslides, floods and earthquakes has gained an international reputation and garnered several awards. Most recently, Rogers received the Schuster Medal from the Canadian Geotechnical Society (CGS) and the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists (AEG). The award is named for CGS and AEG member Dr. Robert Schuster, whose career was related primarily to geohazards.

Donald Wunsch to receive pioneer award from Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers

Dr. Donald Wunsch II, will receive the 2023 Computational Intelligence Society Neural Networks Pioneer Award from the IEEE for his fundamental contributions to the neural networks field. Wunsch is also founding director of the Kummer Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems.
