The Doshi Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering is happy to announce that the Academy of Chemical Engineers has three new members. Please join us in congratulating Christi Patton Luks; Mary Treis McLaughlin, ChE’91; and André Taylor, ChE’95.

Taghi Sherizadeh, assistant professor of mining engineering at Missouri S&T, recently received the Academic Career Development grant from the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME).

Two Missouri S&T alumnae – Fio Giana, MinE’05, and Kim Finke Morrison, GeoE’96 – are leaders in the mining field. Both were featured in the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum’s exhibit titled “Pioneering the field: Women in Mining.”

Missouri S&T teams performed well in this year’s mining competitions.

Ashley Davis’ interest in pyrotechnics started in middle school. So when she turned 17, she attended Missouri S&T’s Explosives Camp to learn more about the subject. But she also learned about mining engineering and the opportunities mining offers. Davis was set on a new path.
