Read More »A team of students from Missouri University of Science and Technology will launch a rocket over 10,000 feet into the air as part of the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association’s 11th Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Challenge.
The competition will be held Wednesday, June 15, through Saturday, June 18, in Green River, Utah. Missouri S&T’s High Power Engineered Rocket Design Team, part of the Advanced Aero Vehicle Group, will compete against approximately 70 other collegiate teams from around the world at the event.

Well, Missouri University of Science and Technology has just the thing for you. As part of Missouri S&T’s Study Abroad program, students can spend a semester in Southeast Asia as part of an exchange program with University Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), a STEM-focused university in Malaysia.
Dr. Shari Dunn-Norman, associate professor of geological and petroleum engineering at Missouri S&T, has lectured at UTP-Malaysia and champions the program — and she’s headed back to Malaysia in October. Her counterpart at UTP-Malaysia is Dr. Ismail bin Mohd Saaid, who studied at Missouri S&T the fall of 1991.
Read More »Ten full-time employees at Missouri University of Science and Technology were honored Wednesday, May 25, for their contributions to the campus during Missouri S&T Staff Recognition Day ceremonies on campus.
Each full-time winner received a certificate a plaque during the award ceremonies, which began at 9 a.m. in the St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center.
The winners were selected from a group of staff members who were nominated by faculty, staff and students. Winners are selected on the basis of their job performance, relationship with associates and dedication to Missouri S&T.
Read More »For the second consecutive year, an interactive summer workshop to promote cybersecurity awareness and educate Missouri K-12 teachers takes place next month at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
The “GenCyber” camp is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Security Agency (NSA). It’s part of an NSF/NSA program to educate K-12 teachers about the need for more cybersecurity experts, and Missouri S&T is the only university in the state to host the camp. There are 73 camps sponsored throughout the country this year after 43 in last year’s pilot program.
Read More »Missouri University of Science and Technology won the Southern Regional Mine Rescue Competition May 3-5 in New Iberia, Louisiana.
Missouri S&T’s Gold Team finished first overall after placing first in the smoke chamber, first aid and on the field and second place in team tech. The Missouri S&T Black Team finished ninth out of 16 teams.
The competition involves a simulated mine disaster that is set up and monitored by the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration. In addition to the rescue simulation, other events include first aid, gas testing and maintaining a complex self-contained breathing apparatus. Written exams are also administered.
