Missouri S&T names Richard Billo founding director of Kummer Institute Center for Advanced Manufacturing

Dr. Richard Billo, who previously served as associate vice president for research and professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Notre Dame, has been appointed founding director of the Kummer Institute Center for Advanced Manufacturing and professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology. He began his duties Jan. 4.

POSTPONED: Missouri S&T’s Campus Performing Arts Series presents nationally touring production of ‘Hamlet’s Big Adventure’

POSTPONED: The Reduced Shakespeare Company’s performance of “Hamlet’s Big Adventure” on Sunday, Jan. 23, is being postponed along with all of the production’s January tour dates due to the recent surge in COVID cases. A new date has not yet been announced. Mix and match style and discarded items at Missouri S&T’s ‘trashion’ show March 1

The Center for Arts and Innovation will award $1,000 in prizes to teams of students that participate in Missouri University of Science and Technology’s upcoming “trashion” show at noon Tuesday, March 1, in the atrium of the Havener Center. An interdisciplinary jury will award prizes for garments made of at least 90% reused and recycled materials. Prizes will be awarded based on the design’s innovation, sustainability and construction and the garment’s overall visual impact.

Missouri S&T cadet named Air Force ROTC All-American 2021

Ean Buffington, an aerospace engineering major from Jackson, Missouri, has been named the Navy Federal Credit Union Air Force ROTC All-American for 2021. Buffington, a cadet in S&T’s Air Force ROTC program, was chosen from more than 300 others who were nominated by ROTC programs across the country. He receives $6,500 scholarship, and his S&T detachment receives $5,000.

Missouri S&T choirs and symphony orchestra to perform new cantata Dec. 5

Missouri S&T’s arts, languages, and philosophy department will present the world premiere of “Da Vinci at the River,” a newly commissioned cantata for orchestra, choir, and solo base, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5. ‘Christmas in Killarney’ to offer holiday celebration the Irish way
