Local artist’s work to be showcased at Leach Theatre

Throughout the spring semester, visitors to Leach Theatre can view a retrospective exhibit by artist Ellen Pearce. Pearce, a Rolla resident who has traveled through much of the U.S. and Europe, primarily uses acrylic paint to create landscapes in hopes of bringing viewers a fresh take on common and uncommon themes.

Hispanic Film Series starts Jan. 27 at Missouri S&T

The Spanish program in the arts, languages, and philosophy department at Missouri University of Science and Technology will present its third Hispanic Film Series during the spring semester at Missouri S&T. This event is open to the public and free of charge. The series consists of five films presented at 7 p.m. Fridays. All films are in Spanish or Portuguese with English subtitles.

Spring enrollment numbers announced at Missouri S&T

Enrollment for the first day of classes at Missouri University of Science and Technology was 7,834. This is 1.2 percent less than spring enrollment in 2016, says Deanne Jackson, Missouri S&T registrar.

The spring semester at Missouri S&T began on Tuesday, Jan. 17. Last spring, 7,931 students were enrolled on the first day of the spring semester.

Cellist Yo-Yo Ma to perform at Missouri S&T

Acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma will perform at Missouri University of Science and Technology on Saturday, March 4, as part of the university’s Remmers Special Artist/Lecturer Series. Ma will be the 32nd presenter in the series. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, located at 10th and Main streets in Rolla.
