Missouri S&T student dies in car accident

Renetra Osun, 23, a senior in multidisciplinary studies at Missouri University of Science and Technology, was killed in a traffic accident on Saturday, Feb. 11. She was from St. Louis.

The accident occurred at 5:40 a.m. on U.S Interstate 44 east of Rolla in Phelps County near mile marker 196.2.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when Osun’s vehicle traveled off the left side of the road into the median, returned to the roadway and then traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

Osun was pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of Missouri S&T’s counseling staff are available to provide counseling services for students, faculty and staff affected by the death.
