Missouri S&T computer teams can hack it in competition

Missouri University of Science and Technology will kick off a Golden Jubilee celebration marking the 50th anniversary of its computer science department with a competition designed to help society through computing.

The Hackathon for Humanity (H4H) contest kickoff runs from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, in Room 209 of the computer science building with live streaming for remote participation. For more details, see the H4H website.

Leach Theatre season begins with psychic show

Classically trained actor and mind reader Joshua Kane will perform “Borders of the Mind – The Psychic Show for the Whole Family” to kickoff the Leach Special Performances Series at Missouri University of Science and Technology this September. The event will feature an interactive performance of telepathy and lie detection. Kane will identify audience members with special abilities and help them discover their inner superhero.

Missouri S&T’s Free Fall Film Festival starts Sept. 1

The local community is invited to view new and classic films at no cost during Missouri University of Science and Technology’s 2015 Free Fall Film Festival. The first film in the series will be “Selma,” a 2014 historical drama that follows Martin Luther King Jr.’s march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.
