Speaking two universal languages

Music has been a major part of Brileigh Cates’ graduate and undergraduate education at Missouri S&T. The applied mathematics graduate student – an alto saxophone player – has led the marching band as drum major, directed the Sax Choir, and performed in the University Wind Symphony, Movie Music Ensemble, and the University Symphonic Band. She is even a member of the band’s service sorority Tau Beta Sigma.

Rolla Town Band to perform free concerts

The Rolla Town Band kicks off their summer concert series with Rolla’s Make Music Day concert at 7:30 p.m. this Friday, June 21, at the Downtown Band Shell in Rolla. There will be three more free concerts on June 27, July 4, and July 11, all beginning at 7:30 p.m. on the Castleman Hall Green.

Sarah Haug, a senior in chemical engineering from Fenton, Missouri, has earned Missouri S&T’s 2020 Renaissance Student Award. The award was presented during a virtual ceremony hosted on May 15 by the arts, languages and philosophy department within S&T’s College of Arts, Sciences, and Business.
