Curious George next family film at S&T
The mischievous and lovable Curious George gets animated in this 2006 adaptation of the first in the series of beloved books by H.A. and Margret Rey. The film will be shown at Missouri University of Science and Technology at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, in Leach Theatre of Missouri S&T’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla, Mo., as part of the Leach Theatre Family Film Series.

The public is invited to view Jupiter and the moon through Missouri University of Science and Technology’s 16-inch telescope on Friday, Jan. 27. The Missouri S&T Observatory will open its doors at 7 p.m. The sky must be clear for observing and session length will vary.

Dr. Cheryl B. Schrader, associate vice president for strategic research initiatives and former engineering dean at Boise State University, has been selected as the next chancellor of Missouri University of Science and Technology, University of Missouri System officials announced today (Jan. 19, 2012). She will begin serving as chancellor on April 2.
Student recognized for turning in $500 cash
Missouri University of Science and Technology recently honored a student for doing the right thing when he discovered $500 in cash on the university’s campus Dec. 5. The money was returned to its owner a short time later that same day.

Enrollment up again this spring at Missouri S&T
Enrollment for the first day of classes at Missouri University of Science and Technology was 6,612, a 2.6 percent increase from last year’s first day of spring enrollment, says Deanne Jackson, interim director of records and registration at Missouri S&T. This is the tenth consecutive year of enrollment increases.

This month, Nathan Weaver and four other writers published a collaborative crime novel through Lulu.com, titled Fatal Flaws. Besides Weaver, a videographer, the eclectic group includes a British accountant and published author, a professor from Chicago, a high school senior from Indiana and a soldier.
