S&T’s Academy of Chemical Engineers inducts six new members
Six professionals were inducted into the Academy of Chemical Engineers at Missouri University of Science and Technology during its annual induction ceremony on Thursday, April 21. The academy honors chemical engineers for contributions to their profession, leadership and involvement with Missouri S&T. It serves as an advisory group to the Missouri S&T chemical and biochemical engineering department.

Missouri University of Science and Technology doctoral student Cory Brennan, had a hand in all of them.
A project engineer for Azimuth Energy in St. Louis while he works to complete an engineering management Ph.D. under the direction of Dr. Suzanna Long, Brennan got his start as a student project manager for the 2009 Solar House Design Team. And through that he found his calling at Missouri S&T.

Dr. Suzanna Long, interim chair and associate professor of engineering management and systems engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology, has been named the 2016 Woman of the Year by Missouri S&T. She was honored during a campus ceremony on Wednesday, April 20.
The Woman of the Year award is given annually in recognition of efforts to improve the campus environment for women and minorities. As part of the award, Long received a $2,000 stipend funded by Missouri S&T graduate Cynthia Tang, founder and former chair of Insight Industries Inc.

Read More »Fahrenholtz takes over Materials Research Center
Dr. William Fahrenholtz, Curators’ Professor of ceramic engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology, has been named the director of the Materials Research Center at Missouri S&T. His appointment took effect Monday, March 21.
Fahrenholtz takes over for Dr. Matt O’Keefe, who became chair of materials science and engineering department at Missouri S&T on March 1.
“Dr. Fahrenholtz’s work as a professor of ceramic engineering has been exemplary, and he is one of the leading researchers in his field, making him an excellent choice to lead the MRC,” says Dr. Mariesa Crow, vice provost for research at Missouri S&T. “His move from senior investigator to director will ensure that the MRC remains on the cutting edge, helping prepare our students to tackle the challenges of today — and beyond.”

2016 Queen of Love and Beauty crowned at Missouri S&T
Missouri University of Science and Technology student Cassie Hurley, a senior in ceramic engineering from Russellville, Arkansas, has been crowned the 2016 Queen of Love and Beauty for the 108th St. Pat’s celebration in Rolla. She was nominated by General Delegation of Independents.
