Missouri University of Science and Technology presented outstanding teaching awards to Missouri S&T faculty members engaged in distance education during a campus ceremony on April 21. Faculty were recognized for their outstanding teaching, which was reflected in the quality of instruction, interaction with students and availability.

“Each of these faculty members has a strong commitment to the success of our distance programs, demonstrating their commitment to education, professional achievement and the growth of our students,” says Dr. Anthony R. Petroy, assistant vice chancellor for global learning at Missouri S&T. “These awards honor their hard work and dedication to teaching.”

Global Learning 2015 Outstanding Teaching Excellence Award recipients are:

— Dr. Neil Anderson, professor of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering

— Dr. Victor Birman, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and director of Missouri S&T Global-St. Louis

— Darryl Brinkmann, adjunct professor of business and information systems

— Dr. Michelle Jarvie-Eggart, a lecturer in mining and nuclear engineering

— Dr. Glenn Morrison, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering

— Dr. Sahra Sedighsarvestani, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering.

Global Learning 2015 Outstanding Teaching Commendation Award recipient is:

— Dr. Lesley Sneed, associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering.
