Twenty seven students in eight categories received recognition and cash awards as winners of the 15th annual Undergraduate Research Conference at Missouri S&T. The conference featured oral and poster exhibitions that represented work from students in nearly every major at Missouri S&T. First-place winners were awarded a cash prize of $500. Second- and third-place finishers received $250 and $100, respectively.

Read More »For the first time ever, scientists have captured an image of a black hole, and a Missouri S&T graduate played an important role. Dr. Frederick K. Baganoff, a research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research, is among the collaborators on the international Event Horizon Telescope project to produce the first direct images of a black hole. Baganoff earned a bachelor of science degree in physics from Missouri S&T in 1985.

Read More »Donald G. Brackhahn, former executive director of the Miner Alumni Association, died Monday, April 1. He joined the S&T staff in 1985 and retired 2002. Brackhahn and his wife, Nancy, have been longtime supporters of S&T, the alumni association and Miner athletics.
