Dr. Venkat Allada, vice provost for graduate studies, welcomed attendees and Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader addressed students and faculty members before presenting the awards.

Since Hank Williams’ New Year’s Day death in 1953, journalists, biographers, historians and scholars have written extensively about the country music legend. A new book co-edited by a Missouri University of Science and Technology historian compiles much of this work and examines Williams’ place in American history and popular culture.

Twenty-two Missouri University of Science and Technology faculty members received the Faculty Achievement, Research, Service or Teaching Award for 2013. Each award winner receives a $1,000 stipend funded by industry and alumni contributions. The awards were presented at a ceremony held Feb. 18 on campus.

To help meet the growing need for human resources and talent management professionals, Missouri University of Science and Technology is offering a new master of science degree program in industrial-organizational psychology beginning spring 2014. The program was approved by the Coordinating Board for Higher Education in December.
