The unique camps provide an excellent opportunity to learn first-hand what engineers actually do and get a taste of campus life. If you play an instrument or would like to be a sponsor, the Rolla Town Band needs you. Rehearsals begin next week and musicians age 14 and older are welcome to join in the fun. All ability levels are welcome, including those who haven’t played in 20 years. “We’ll even see if we can find you an instrument to use,” says Dr. Robert J. Cesario, director of bands and orchestras at Missouri S&T, who will be conducting the band this summer.

It’s only been around for a couple of years, but Missouri S&T’s Scholars’ Mine, a free digital collection of the university’s scholarly work, is getting global attention. Materials from the repository have been downloaded more than 200,000 times throughout the world.

Read More »Memorial to S&T alum and soldier to include 21-gun salute
U.S. Army Capt. Joshua E. Steele, a 2002 geological engineering graduate from Missouri S&T, will be honored during a memorial dedication at 1 p.m. Monday, May 11, at the flag in front of Harris Hall on campus. Steele was killed when his humvee was struck with an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan on June 17, 2007.

The honor was awarded by the University of Missouri Alliance of Alumni Associations and Extension during the group’s 2009 Outstanding Alumni Service Awards Dinner.
