S&T announces Undergraduate Research Conference winners

Twenty seven students in eight categories received recognition and cash awards as winners of the 15th annual Undergraduate Research Conference at Missouri S&T. The conference featured oral and poster exhibitions that represented work from students in nearly every major at Missouri S&T. First-place winners were awarded a cash prize of $500. Second- and third-place finishers received $250 and $100, respectively.

Shannon named S&T Women’s Advocate of the Year

Dr. Katie Shannon, associate teaching professor of biological sciences and director of the Laboratory of Cytokinesis at Missouri S&T, has been named the 2019 recipient of the Dr. Elizabeth Cummins Women’s Advocate Award at Missouri S&T. She was honored during a campus ceremony on Wednesday, April 24.

Missouri S&T’s Chem-E-Car Design Team’s two entries into the recent American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) regional competition finished second and third. The high finishes qualified the team for a trip to the national 2019 AlChE Student Conference in Orlando, Florida, in November.

The competition challenges college students to design and construct cars that are powered by a chemical energy source, that will safely carry a specified load over a given distance and then stop.
