Nuclear engineering program at S&T to celebrate 50th anniversary

The nuclear engineering program at Missouri University of Science and Technology will be observing its 50th anniversary Sept. 17-18. The university started offering accredited undergraduate nuclear engineering degrees in 1960. Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in nuclear engineering have been offered since 1959 and 1965, respectively. The nuclear reactor on campus, the first in the state of Missouri, has also been in operation for approximately 50 years.

S&T water study: Is colloidal silver necessary for bacteria removal?

Nicole Heinley, a graduate student at Missouri University of Science and Technology, traveled to Guatemala twice in the past year to conduct research on ceramic pot filters that are used locally to remove bacteria from water. Now, Heinley’s findings are about to be published in the Journal of Water Science and Technology.
