Nearly 200 students and staff members from Missouri University of Science and Technology will volunteer throughout the local community on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 21, as part of a national day of service. The number of participants is more than double previous years’ numbers.

Greg Smith, chief information officer for George Fox University in Newberg, Ore., since 2004, has been named CIO of Missouri University of Science and Technology. Missouri S&T Provost Warren K. Wray announced the appointment today (Monday, Jan. 7, 2013).
Dr. Stewart Gillies, interim director of the Rock Mechanics and Explosives Research Center at Missouri University of Science and Technology since 2009, has been named director of the center, effective Jan. 1, 2013.
