Founder of the REMADE Institute to deliver second Stoffer Lecture at S&T

Performing scientific experiments and mountain climbing have a great deal in common, says Dr. Eric S. Peterson, founder of the REMADE Institute, a National Network of Manufacturing Institute led by Rochester Institute of Technology. Peterson will explain this theory in the second annual Dr. James Stoffer Lecture at Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Peterson’s presentation, titled “A Mountainous Romp in Science and Life,” will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, in Room G-3 Schrenk Hall on the Missouri S&T campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

399th Army Band to perform at Leach Theatre

The concert will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, located on the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus at the corner of 10th and Main streets in Rolla.

The innovator’s toolbox: metallurgical engineer returns to Missouri S&T for O’Keefe Lecture

As a Ph.D. student at Missouri University of Science and Technology, metallurgical engineer Martin Perez dove deep into studying the effects of molten metal corrosion and the use of alloy powders in alkaline batteries.
But when Perez returns to S&T next week to deliver the ninth annual Dr. Thomas J. O’Keefe Lecture, expect very little discussion about powder metallurgy. Instead, the guest lecturer plans to focus on what he calls the “secret to innovation: applied imagination.”
