S&T grad to blog from space

NASA astronaut Sandra Magnus, a Missouri University of Science and Technology graduate, is scheduled to launch into orbit aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour on Nov. 14. The space shuttle will drop Magnus off at the International Space Station for a four-month stay, during which time she will be contributing to a Missouri S&T blog aimed at getting more kids interested in science.

S&T unveils plan to verify student status, plan complies with new MO law

Missouri S&T Registrar Laura Stoll has announced a new plan to verify the U.S. citizenship, permanent resident status or lawful presence of all Missouri S&T students. Stoll is taking this action following the passage of Missouri law HB 1549 earlier this year.

Missouri S&T student killed in traffic accident, second injured

Derek A. Medlock, 24, a senior in civil engineering at Missouri S&T, was killed early this morning (Friday, Oct. 10) in a traffic accident on Forum Drive in Rolla. A second student, Joshua C. Roach, 23, suffered serious injuries in the accident.

Rance Larsen named director of admissions at S&T

Rance Larsen, current director of admissions at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo., was named director of admissions at Missouri S&T on Oct. 1. He will begin his new position on Monday, Oct. 13.

S&T students are becoming real rocket scientists

Two years ago, a group of students from Missouri University of Science and Technology were involved in an informal rocketry challenge with some would-be rocket scientists from Iowa State University. The Iowa State program didn’t get off the ground that year, but the Missouri S&T students built a 12-foot-tall rocket that reached speeds approaching 1,000 mph and a height of 19,000 feet.

KMST fall membership drive to begin Oct. 4
