Rance Larsen, current director of admissions at Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo., was named director of admissions at Missouri S&T on Oct. 1. He will begin his new position on Monday, Oct. 13.
Larsen replaces Lynn Stichnote, who held the position for six years and recently became Missouri S&T’s director of student financial assistance. Under Stichnote’s direction, the campus’s new student enrollment grew by more than 40 percent and continued to attract students with academic credentials in the top 10 percent of the nation.
“Rance brings more than 20 years of experience in college admissions and a solid understanding of how a national admissions program is run at a top land-grant research university,” says Jay Goff, vice provost and dean of enrollment management at Missouri S&T. “We are excited to attract such an outstanding leader to S&T.”
Larsen brings to the position a history of providing outstanding student service programs and using multi-media communications campaigns to attract a diverse group of talented students. Prior to his position at Mesa State College, Larsen was assistant director of admissions at Washington State University in Pullman, Wash., from 1996-2006. He worked in admissions at both Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs, Wyo., for seven years, and at Stevens-Henager College in Provo, Utah.
Larsen earned his bachelor’s degree in communications and public relations from Brigham Young University and his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Wyoming.
“I believe Rance will do a great job in leading our very successful new student enrollment program,” says Goff.
