Forget haunted houses — Go underground for a really scary experience
In anticipation of Halloween, mining engineering students at the University of Missouri-Rolla are again planning to haunt UMR’s Experimental Mine. The underground mine will be open to the public for scary tours from 6 p.m. to midnight Oct. 19-20 and Oct. 26-27. On Wednesday, Oct. 31, the Haunted Mine will be open from 5-10 p.m.

The moon will be visible after sunset on Friday, Oct. 19, and amateur astronomers, curious skywatchers and the general public will be able to view them through the University of Missouri-Rolla Observatory’s 16-inch telescope.

The University of Missouri-Rolla Symphony Orchestra and the UMR Chamber Orchestra will perform their first concert of the season at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in Leach Theater of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. This will be the premier concert for the new UMR Orchestra conductor, Dr. Robert J. Cesario.
