Missouri S&T’s College of Engineering and Computing recently held its Fall 2023 awards ceremony at the Havener Center, and several staff and faculty members were presented with honors.
Staff awards recognize exceptional performance among departmental staff. The staff winners are:
Team Impact Award: Patty Robertson, office support assistant for geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering
Rookie of the Year: Joseph Hicks, research technical services supervisor and mine manager
Student Service Award: Skylar Rea, engineering technician for mechanical and aerospace engineering
Extra Mile Award: Stephen Casey, academic advisor for mining, explosives, nuclear and materials science engineering
Loyalty Award: Nathan Inskip, senior research engineering technician for materials science and engineering
Peer-to-Peer Award: Debi Willy, office support assistant for mechanical and aerospace engineering.
The Dean’s Educator Award highlights teaching excellence. This year’s award went to three professors, including:
Dr. Yun Seong Song, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering
Dr. Dimitri Feys, associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering
Dr. Robert Woodley, associate teaching professor of electrical and computer engineering.
The Dean’s Scholar Award, which highlights scholarly excellence, went to two professors, including:
Dr. DongHyun (Bill) Kim, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering
Dr. Jonathan Obrist Farner, associate professor of geology and geophysics.
Researchers who received patents in the past year were also recognized. They include:
Dr. Jonghyun Park, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering. Park received two patents.
Dr. Muthanna Al-Dahhan, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of chemical and biochemical engineering and Laufer Endowed Chair in Energy. Al-Dahhan received one patent.
Dr. Simon Naumovich Lekakh, Professor Emeritus of materials science and engineering. Lekakh received one patent.
Dr. Fateme Rezaei, Linda and Bipin Doshi Associate Professor of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. Rezaie received one patent.
Dr. Jie Huang, Roy A. Wilkens Endowed Associate Professor of electrical engineering, and Dr. Rex Gerald, research professor of electrical engineering. Huang and Gerald received two patents together, and Huang received one more separate from Gerald.
