Kummer Vanguard Scholars reflect on their experiences

Now in its fourth year, the Kummer Vanguard Scholars program boasts 1,300 students at Missouri S&T. The program, established by a generous gift in 2020 from Fred and June Kummer, goes beyond a traditional scholarship program. We asked five first-generation college students about how their experience through the Kummer Vanguard Scholars program and Missouri S&T are helping them fulfill their dreams. Here’s what they said:

Add your name at beam-signing ceremony for S&T’s Welcome Center

Missouri S&T will host a beam-signing ceremony Friday, Oct. 25, for the top structural beam that will be used in construction of the university’s Welcome Center. The ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. on the Innovation Lab lawn, located west of the Welcome Center construction site.

S&T students keep ironmaking traditions alive at Maramec Spring Park

Maramec Iron Works in St. James, Missouri, may have officially ceased operations in 1878, but iron has still been produced at least the past couple years at the location, which is now home to Maramec Spring Park.
