UMR choral ensembles to perform Oct. 23

Two choral ensembles from the University of Missouri-Rolla will present a concert later this month. The University Choir and the newly formed University Chamber Choir will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Christ Episcopal Church. Admission is free.

Best showing ever: UMR students prove they can hang with professional mine rescuers

Two mine rescue teams from the University of Missouri-Rolla competed against about a dozen teams of professionals from the mining industry this week at UMR’s Experimental Mine. UMR’s gold team took third place overall in the competition and UMR’s black team placed fourth.

UMR student helps to engineer wheelchair capable of going up and down stairs

Lindsay Waters of Springfield, Mo., was one of 13 college students from the United States and Puerto Rico to work on advanced science and engineering projects this summer at the University of Missouri-Rolla. Working with two other students, Waters helped to design and build a wheelchair capable of autonomously traversing stairs.
