Missouri S&T to study rural infrastructure with public interest grant

An in-depth analysis of infrastructure in rural areas is at the core of a Missouri Univrsity of Science and Technology research project awarded $90,000 from the Public Interest Technology University Network (PIT-UN). Public interest technology refers to a set of practices that guide the design, deployment and governance of technology in ways that advance the public interest. The award, which is for a project led by Dr. Casey Canfield, assistant professor of engineering management and systems engineering, spans 18 months and is S&T’s first grant from PIT-UN since joining the organization in August.

New book covers the life of entrepreneur Fred S. Kummer

A new biography covers the life and work of Fred S. Kummer, a philanthropist, entrepreneur and 1955 Missouri S&T graduate. The book, titled Master Builder, will be available from the S&T Store for $15 starting on Kummer Day at Missouri S&T, Monday, Oct. 9.

‘On a Miner Note: Musical Miners and Missouri Sounds’ to open at Missouri S&T Oct. 3

The Curtis Laws Wilson Library at Missouri S&T will host an exhibition about local musical history during October. “On a Miner Note: Musical Miners and Missouri Sounds” opens with a public reception 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, featuring a presentation by State Historical Society of Missouri archivist Haley Frizzle-Green on the history of Springfield-based broadcasting company RadiOzark. Missouri S&T releases official fall enrollment numbers

Missouri S&T to break ground on Protoplex, celebrate Manufacturing Day

Missouri University of Science and Technology will kick off its celebration of Manufacturing Day with a groundbreaking ceremony for the Missouri Protoplex at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 5.
