Missouri S&T student body president embraces campus life, in and out of classroom

Scottie Thomas, a senior in chemical engineering from Cape Girardeau, Mo., came to Missouri S&T with a penchant for leadership honed in high school, where he was a football captain and National Honor Society member.
Four years later, as he prepares to graduate in May and work as a process design engineer for Phillips 66, Thomas has grown into a campus leader who immersed himself in university life, from working in an aerospace engineering research lab to his current role as student body president.

Former engineering management chair Henry Sineath dies

Dr. Henry Howard Sineath, professor emeritus of engineering management at Missouri University of Science and Technology, died on Oct. 8. He was 95.

Sineath, known to friends and colleagues alike as “Dr. Si,” joined the university in 1976 as a visiting professor of engineering management after a 25-year career in industry. He established the school’s packaging program the following year and also served as its second chair of engineering management, succeeding program founder Dr. Bernard Sarchet.

Al-Dahhan named Curators’ Distinguished Professor at Missouri S&T

Dr. Muthanna Al-Dahhan, chair and professor of chemical and biochemical engineering and a professor of nuclear engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology, has been named Curators’ Distinguished Professor of chemical and biochemical engineering and of nuclear engineering at Missouri S&T. Al-Dahhan will be officially recognized during Missouri S&T’s commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 17.
