Happy Feet will be shown at Leach Theatre Feb. 12
Rolla residents are invited to view Happy Feet, the 2007 Academy Award winner for Best Animated Feature, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, in Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Leach Theatre. The theatre is located in Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. The film is part of the Leach Theatre Family Film Series.

Rolla native Dr. Anne S. Twitty will discuss “The World Before Dred Scott: One Slave’s Journey from Liberty to Equality” at Missouri University of Science and Technology as part of the university’s Black History Month activities. The lecture will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Seating is limited.

Orion Nebula, moon visible through S&T’s telescope
The public is invited to view the moon and the Orion Nebula through Missouri University of Science and Technology’s 16-inch telescope on Friday, Jan. 14. Weather permitting, the Missouri S&T Observatory will open its doors at 7 p.m.
S&T to celebrate 25th anniversary of King holiday
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the federal holiday celebrating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Students, faculty and staff at Missouri University of Science and Technology will honor King’s life and legacy by serving the Rolla area during the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Monday, Jan. 17.
