Missouri S&T researcher works to develop nanodiamond materials
When you think of diamonds, rings and anniversaries generally come to mind. But one day, the first thing that will come to mind may be bone surgery. By carefully designing modified diamonds at the nano-scale level, a Missouri University of Science and Technology researcher hopes to create multifunctional diamond-based materials for applications ranging from advanced composites to drug delivery platforms and biomedical imaging agents.

Department of Education grant prioritizes Latin American studies
Missouri S&T students soon will have even more incentive to study abroad in Central and South America. A team of S&T faculty has received a $93,229 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to help fund a new minor in Latin American studies.

Throughout the spring semester, visitors to Leach Theatre can view a retrospective exhibit by artist Ellen Pearce. Pearce, a Rolla resident who has traveled through much of the U.S. and Europe, primarily uses acrylic paint to create landscapes in hopes of bringing viewers a fresh take on common and uncommon themes.

The Spanish program in the arts, languages, and philosophy department at Missouri University of Science and Technology will present its third Hispanic Film Series during the spring semester at Missouri S&T. This event is open to the public and free of charge. The series consists of five films presented at 7 p.m. Fridays. All films are in Spanish or Portuguese with English subtitles.

S&T historian’s latest book focuses on Jewish post-Holocaust reconstruction in France
After World War II, French Holocaust survivors returned to their homes in Paris to find them stripped of personal belongings and occupied by new inhabitants. Attempts to reclaim those belongings were key in efforts to rebuild Jewish political and social inclusion after the war, says Dr. Shannon Fogg, chair and professor of history and political science at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
