‘Football Physics’ to be discussed

A former S&T physics professor will return to Rolla to discuss the physics of football next week. Dr. Tim Gay, now a professor at the University of Nebraska, will discuss a series of one-minute physics lectures he gave to Nebraska fans during home football games from 1999 to 2004. The lecture will be held from 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, in Room 104 of the Physics Building.

S&T faculty to showcase their talents at fundraiser

More than 50 faculty members will showcase their talents at a fundraiser for the Missouri S&T chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB). The show will be held from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, in Leach Theater of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. Tickets are $5 and $10 for general admission; VIP seating is available for $25.

Spring enrollment to increase

Enrollment on the first day of classes at Missouri S&T is projected to be 5,676, a 2.6 percent increase from last year’s first day of enrollment, says Laura Stoll, Missouri S&T registrar. This will be the seventh consecutive year of enrollment increases.

School Outreach Program to feature history of jazz

Missouri S&T will present the next event in the 2008-09 School Outreach Program, “Stolen Moments: The First One Hundred Years of Jazz,” at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14. The performances will be held in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla, Mo. The 9:30 performance is sold out; however, tickets remain for the 1 p.m. show. All tickets are $3.50 each.

The Missouri S&T University and Community Symphony Orchestra and the Missouri S&T Chamber Orchestra will perform their winter holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in Leach Theater of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. The orchestra will be conducted by Dr. Robert J. Cesario, assistant professor of arts, languages and philosophy.
