The Missouri S&T University and Community Symphony Orchestra and the Missouri S&T Chamber Orchestra will perform their winter holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, in Leach Theater of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. The Chamber Orchestra will perform “St. Paul’s Suite,” by Gustav Holst and “Ukrainian Bell Carol,” by Mykola Dmytrovych Leontovych.

The University and Community Symphony Orchestra will perform “Dance of the Athletes” from Paris and Helen, by Christoph Willibald Gluck; “The Nutcracker Suite,” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky; and “Sleigh Ride,” by Leroy Anderson.
The Missouri S&T Tuba and Euphonium Quartet, coached by Missouri S&T jazz instructor David Cress, will be playing seasonal tunes in the lobby preceding the concert.

“The orchestras combine people from our local community as well as more traditional university students and some faculty,” says Cesario. “They give us the opportunity to come together as one to make great music and enjoy each other as well as our artistic endeavors.”

The orchestras will give their third concert of the season at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, in Leach Theater.
