In its first 12 hours, S&T’s Kummer College hosts first Ph.D. dissertation defense
Less than 12 hours after being officially established on July 1, the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development at Missouri S&T hosted its first doctoral dissertation defense. Javier Valentín-Sívico’s dissertation investigates the lack of adequate broadband in many rural communities. His advisor was Dr. Casey Canfield, assistant professor of engineering management and systems engineering.

Cassandra Elrod named interim chair of Missouri S&T’s business and information technology department
Dr. Cassandra C. Elrod has been named interim chair of Missouri University of Science and Technology’s business and information technology (BIT) department. BIT is one of three founding departments in the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development, which was established July 1.

David Enke named interim chair of Missouri S&T’s engineering management and systems engineering department
Dr. David Enke, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor of engineering management and systems engineering (EMSE) has been appointed interim chair of the department. EMSE is one of three founding departments of the Kummer College of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development, which was established July 1.
