S&T researchers focus on containing fuel in nuclear reactors with $1 million in federal support

Researchers at Missouri S&T are studying the strength of bonds between a new less-enriched uranium fuel and the metals that will contain it — allowing nuclear research reactors to potentially transition to a fuel with a reduced risk of being targeted or stolen for malicious purposes.

Dr. William P. Schonberg, a professor of civil engineering at Missouri S&T, has been elected a Fellow of the International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS).

Curators to break ground on Bioplex April 16, meet at S&T April 17

Missouri University of Science and Technology will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Bioplex at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, on the Havener Arrival Complex’s lawn, north of Bertelsmeyer Hall. The groundbreaking will precede the April 17 meeting of the University of Missouri Board of Curators in the St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center on the Missouri S&T campus.
