The St. Pat’s Celebration Committee at the University of Missouri-Rolla is planning a new event, “Grateful Board,” for the 2006 celebration. The event, featuring music and food, will be held March 18 following the annual St. Pat’s Parade through downtown Rolla.

St. Pat’s float features flopping catfish

In keeping with an old tradition, some students at the University of Missouri-Rolla are designing a float with moving parts for this year’s St. Pat’s Parade. The float, which features a candy-spewing tornado and a flopping catfish, is being constructed by UMR students enrolled in a class called Experiential Design.

UMR students take top prize in ASCE Geo-Congress 2006

A team from the University of Missouri-Rolla finished in first place at the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Information Mining and Geotechnical Site Characterization Design competition held Feb. 26. The competition was held during ASCE Geo-Institute’s Geo-Congress 2006, a national conference that focused on “Geotechnical Engineering in the Information Technology Age.”
