Students help S&T employee with storm damage
Three students at Missouri University of Science and Technology recently spent the afternoon helping an employee of the university clean up debris from his barn that was destroyed in the Feb. 29 storm.

While public radio station KMST did not reach its $70,000 goal, the station’s Spring Membership Drive, which was held Feb. 25 through March 4, did receive $62,866 in investments and was deemed a success. Pledges are still accepted at 573-341-4386 in Rolla, toll-free at 888-776-5678 or online.

Olivia Sidwell, a third-grader at Mark Twain Elementary in Rolla, was this year’s winner of the Celebration of Nations T-shirt Contest. She received a $200 gift card that was donated by the Missouri S&T Bookstore. T-shirts with her design will be available for purchase at the event.

Garden gnomes version of classic comes to Leach Theatre
William Shakespeare’s revered love story gets a comical and offbeat makeover with garden gnomes in “Gnomeo & Juliet.” The computer-animated family comedy will be shown at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 10, as part of the Leach Theatre Family Film Series at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Leach Theatre is located in Missouri S&T’s Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla, Mo.

The Missouri University of Science and Technology University and Community Symphony Orchestra and the Missouri S&T Chamber Orchestra will perform their spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 11, in Leach Theater of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla. The orchestra will be conducted by Dr. Robert J. Cesario, assistant professor of arts, languages and philosophy.

The Sari Wrap Party will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Southwestern Bell Cultural Center, 1207 N. Elm. St. The event will include henna tattoos for a nominal fee, refreshments and a limited number of saris available for purchase.
