Missouri University of Science and Technology’s arts, languages, and philosophy department will present a wind symphony concert this April.
The performance will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Apr. 26, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, located at the corner of 10th and Main Streets on the Missouri S&T campus. The wind symphony and symphonic band will be directed by Dr. David Samson, assistant professor of music at Missouri S&T.
“The University Wind Symphony is thrilled to present Johan de Meij’s masterpiece, ‘The Lord of the Rings’ Symphony,” says Samson. “Based on the J.R.R. Tolkien novels, this celebrated work became an instant classic since its premiere in 1988. It is a difficult and lengthy piece (approximately 42 minutes), but our students have rehearsed it with tremendous care and attention to detail. We hope you will join us to experience this fantastic piece.”
Tickets are $5 for the public, and free to youth ages 18 and under and Missouri S&T students with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday from the Leach Theatre Box Office, located inside the main entrance to Castleman Hall, facing 10th Street. Tickets can also be purchased at the door starting an hour before the event, online at leachtheatre.mst.edu, or by calling 573-341-4219. Service fees may apply to tickets purchased online.
