Dr. Harvest Collier, former vice provost for undergraduate studies and professor emeritus of chemistry at Missouri University of Science and Technology, will give a presentation at the Curtis Laws Wilson Library this October as part of Archives Month. Collier’s talk will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28.

His presentation, titled “Reflections on the Academic Career of the First African-American Faculty at the University of Missouri-Rolla/Missouri S&T,” will focus on his experience of faculty integration at the university. Collier joined S&T in 1982 as a professor of chemistry, and served for 30 years in various roles.

The event is free and open to the public; parking on campus is free after 4:30 p.m. The talk will also be streamed on Zoom (register at shsmo.org/calendar) and Facebook Live (view at facebook.com/MissouriSandTArchives).

Collier served as chair of chemistry from 1996 to1999, and from 1999 to 2002 was associate dean for the College of Arts and Sciences. He retired in 2012, having served as the vice provost for undergraduate studies since 2007. Collier was awarded the Chancellor Medal in 2014.
