Missouri S&T will present the play “Stop Kiss” by Diana Son this October.

All performances will take place in the Black Box Theatre in room 143 of Castleman Hall. Performances will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18 and Saturday, Oct. 19, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20.

After Callie meets Sara, the two unexpectedly fall in love. Their first kiss provokes a violent attack that transforms their lives in a way they could never anticipate. This show contains mature content and adult language and is recommended for audiences ages 14 and over.

“I’m excited for the students and community to see this show,” says Taylor Gruenloh, the theatre professor at Missouri S&T. “It’s a timely and necessary play to produce right now due to the rise in hate crimes this past summer surrounding different Pride events around the country. While the conversations inside this play stem from a violent act, it’s never shown on stage. What the audience is witnessing is the emotional fallout, the struggle to find a new normal, and the varying depths of compassion we are capable of as human beings.”

Tickets can be purchased online at leachtheatre.mst.edu or by calling 573-341-4219. Service fees may apply to tickets purchased online. Tickets can also be purchased at the Leach Theatre Box Office starting one hour before the performance.
