Cavitt Bruhn, a junior in mechanical engineering from Plano, Texas, and a goalkeeper for S&T’s men’s soccer team, will be taking a trip to southwest Michigan next week to compete in the PIT Collegiate Throwdown (PCT). The event is an international CrossFit competition in Kalamazoo and Three Rivers, Michigan, that will be held Aug. 27-30. To earn an invitation to compete, Cavitt participated in a competitive global online qualifier, finishing in the top 30 in the world.
The qualification for the PCT took place online earlier this year, beginning in March, with the first stage requiring competitors to complete three prescribed workouts in order to advance to the next round. The second stage took place over the month of June, with competitors being required complete two workouts per week for the entire month and record their scores. Competitors were allowed to complete the workout as many times as they would like and keep the best scores from the week. The PCT team required competitors to record workouts for their score review process as well to ensure fair play.
During the second stage of qualifications, Cavitt had a personal best fifth place finish with 53 points in the second test, which included:
Shuttle Sprints (2 minutes)
