In conjunction with its annual celebration of the $300 million gift the university received from June and Fred Kummer in 2020, Missouri University of Science and Technology today launched the Kummer Day of Giving Challenge. The challenge is designed to amplify the dedication donors have for the success of S&T students by doubling the amount of their gifts.

Through Wednesday, Oct. 25, the Kummer Institute Foundation will extend the impact of donations by matching each gift of $1,000 or more. For fundraising teams, including departments and academies, bonus funds will be applied to the total amount raised by the top three groups, with $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000 for first, second and third place, respectively.

“As the gift from June and Fred Kummer has shown, supporting the students of Missouri S&T, today and in the future, is larger than any individual,” says Kristen Gallagher, executive director of development for the Kummer Institute. “We launched this challenge to provide the S&T community with an opportunity to extend the reach of the gifts they make to provide support that’s critical to the success of S&T students.”

In addition to S&T academies, gifts designated for the Miner Alumni Association Scholarship, Kummer STEM Center, Student Emergency Fund, Business and Information Technology (BIT) Advisory Board, Kummer Vanguard Scholars, College of Arts, Science, and Education (CASE) Dean’s Leadership Council, and the College of Engineering and Computing will be matched by the foundation.
