The Future Research Pioneers Program (FRPP) is an opportunity for mechanical and aerospace engineering undergraduate students to conduct hands-on research at Missouri S&T. After a summer of exploration, the 2023 FRPP researchers presented their findings through poster presentations in the Toomey Hall atrium on Sept. 21.
The poster presentation winners and their advisors, all in mechanical and aerospace engineering, are:
- 1st Place – Joshua Gary, a senior, who was advised by Dr. Davide Viganò, assistant professor. His research topic was “Tomographic Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) System for Supersonic Wind Tunnel Application.”
- 2nd Place – Samuel Patterson, a senior, who was advised by Dr. Daoru Han, associate professor. His research topic was “Electrostatic Sieve Design for Lunar Regolith Simulant Movement and Separation.”
- 3rd Place – Coleman Goulding, a junior, who was advised by Dr. Hank Pernicka, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor. His research topic was “Autonomous Satellite Tracking and Radio Communications.”
