Individuals interested in earning credentials in specialized fields to give them an advantage in the workforce now have dozens of opportunities this summer through Missouri S&T’s College of Engineering and Computing.
Missouri S&T will offer courses online this summer beginning Monday, June 8. Among the offerings are stand-alone medallion courses in 19 areas – from applied health physics to workforce development – as well as graduate certificate programs offered by 10 academic departments.
The medallion courses and certificate programs offer learners specialized courses of study to help them prepare for an ever-evolving workforce, says Dr. Richard W. Wlezien, vice provost and dean of the Missouri S&T College of Engineering and Computing.
“The dramatic impact of the coronavirus pandemic underscores just how vital it is for individuals to gain new knowledge and expertise in unconventional ways,” Wlezien says. “These medallion courses and certificate programs are designed to help seasoned professionals, new professionals or new graduates expand their skill set quickly and effectively.”
Medallion courses are stand-alone courses that provide specific knowledge to help professionals with career advancement. Some of the courses may also apply toward a certificate, which requires multiple courses. Completion of a certificate program can also lead to a graduate degree.
