The Missouri S&T music program invites the public to attend its Performing Arts Holiday Concert in December.
The concert will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, located at 10th and Main streets in Rolla. The concert will feature performances by the Missouri S&T Chamber Choir and University Choir, directed by Lorie Francis, associate teaching professor of music, as well as the University Symphony Orchestra, directed by Dr. Kyle Wernke, lecturer in music.
Before the concert, guests will be treated to carols performed by the S&T Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble under the direction of Dr. David Samson, assistant professor of music.
The concert will begin with the Chamber Choir performing the Michelle Hynson arrangement of “Silent Night” followed by “O Magnum Mysterium” by Morten Lauridsen. The University Choir will then perform “Ding-a Ding-a Ding” by Greg Gilpin.
The Symphony Orchestra will take the stage next to perform music from “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” by Nicholas Hooper and arranged by Victor Lopez, and “Christmas at the Movies,” arranged by Bob Kronstadt. The concert will conclude with the choirs and orchestra leading a sing-a-long of traditional Christmas carols.
This event is free to Missouri S&T students with a student ID and to youth age 18 or younger. Tickets are $5 for the public and are available in the Leach Theatre Box Office, located inside the main entrance of the theater, which faces 10th Street.
