Alumnus honored by S&T computer science academy

John M. Brown of St. Louis, a graduate of Missouri S&T with ties to the computer science department, was inducted into the Missouri S&T Academy of Computer Science during the group’s banquet and induction ceremony, held Oct. 11 at Matt’s Steakhouse in Rolla.

The academy honors outstanding computer scientists for their contributions to the profession and their involvement with Missouri S&T students and faculty. The academy also serves as an advisory group to the computer science department.

Brown earned a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Missouri S&T in 1985. He is a contract program and project manager in the engineering department of Nestle Purina, where he oversees numerous projects that focus on enhancement and improvement in manufacturing. He has been with Nestle Purina since 2002. Before his current position, Brown was an information systems (IS) manager for Monsanto/Solutia chemical company for nearly a decade. Since 2005, Brown has been a member of the Missouri S&T Computer Science Advisory Board.
