Women are needed as volunteers to serve as guides for attendees of the 19th annual Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) conference that will be held Friday, Oct. 5, on the campus of Missouri S&T.
EYH introduces girls in 7th and 8th grade to careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. The girls participating in the one-day conference attend hands-on workshops, meet other young women with similar interests, learn about career opportunities and interact with women working in traditionally male-dominated fields.
Female employees, students and community members are encouraged to volunteer. Guiding is a way to contribute to the students’ experience on campus. The hours are from 8:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., and training and lunch are provided for all volunteers.
Prior to the event, training sessions will be offered at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, and at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4. Volunteers need to attend one of the sessions and the training takes about 15 minutes. The information can also be emailed once volunteers register online.
Volunteer online by Tuesday, Sept. 4, at eyh.mst.edu or with Michelle Wiginton at 573-341-4835 or wigintonm@mst.edu.
