The community’s last chance to view an art gallery of Civil War impression paintings and learn about the Civil War in the Ozarks will be at the closing reception for the summer-long art display and lecture series at Missouri S&T.
The closing reception will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, at the Curtis Laws Wilson Library on the S&T campus, and will include remarks by local Rolla artist Dan Woodward.
Woodward, a colorist and realist who paints primarily in oils, has a standing display of approximately 80 paintings and sketches available for viewing on the second floor of the library during the summer. The third floor also houses an exhibit featuring artifacts from John Bradbury’s personal collection, items from the Claire V. Mann collection held by S&T Archives and materials from the State Historical Society of Missouri.
Viewings are free and open to the public during regular library hours which are available online at library.mst.edu or by calling 573-341-4008.
