Missouri S&T students, faculty and staff are celebrating more than the coming of spring in April. They’re also spotlighting the spirit of giving by celebrating Philanthropy Month.

Members of Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (STAT) and Blue Key will be raising awareness of the importance of philanthropy all month long — and raising money for the Student Emergency Fund, which helps S&T students meet unexpected expenses. A crowdfunding campaign for the Student Emergency Fund will launch April 1 and continue throughout the month at crowdfunding.mst.edu.

STAT and Blue Key members will also sponsor a booth from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout April, alternating between the Havener Center and Curtis Laws Wilson Library. There will be Philanthropy Month giveaways courtesy of local businesses, and all donations will benefit the Student Emergency Fund.

Throughout April, students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to participate in Whiteboard Wednesdays, when mobile whiteboards around campus will provide a public space where Miners can share what they love about S&T.  Student teams will also take part in a Philanthropy Month scavenger hunt from April 16-20. Clues will be hidden on campus, and teams must locate and photograph them and submit their photos to annualgiving@mst.edu.

The local community is invited to participate in “Dine and Donate” from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at Imo’s Pizza in Rolla. Dine in, carry out or use delivery and 20 percent of your purchase will be donated to the Student Emergency Fund. Philanthropy Month activities will conclude on Friday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with “Philanthropalooza,” a festival on the campus Puck featuring student  organizations, a dunk tank and other games, giveaways, food and fundraising for the many great causes supported by S&T students.
