Award-winning guitarist Todd Mosby will lead a free acoustic guitar workshop prior to his Leach Theatre performance as a part of Todd Mosby and the New Horizons Ensemble.

The workshop will be held 4-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Merle’s Music, located at 304 N. Bishop Ave. in Rolla. The event is free and open to the public; attendees must provide their own guitar. The workshop will teach basic principles and a systematic approach to developing a personal performance style.

Mosby, a St. Louis native, is a guitarist with a background in a variety of musical genres including classical and jazz. He uses his musical knowledge to create pieces rooted in a combination of musical sounds. Mosby is a two-time Global Music Award winner and the author of four books on guitar technique.

Todd Mosby and the New Horizons Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Leach Theatre, located on the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus. Tickets are still available for the performance and are $35 for adults and $30 for youth. Tickets can be purchased through the Leach Theatre Box Office, located inside the main entrance of Castleman Hall, facing 10th Street, or by calling the office at 573-341-4219.
