The 60th annual Asphalt Conference will be held Nov. 28-29 at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Registration is $135 per person and is available online at asphalt.mst.edu.
Organizers say the conference will be of interest to contractors, public agencies, consulting engineers, testing labs, aggregate producers, asphalt binder suppliers and technical equipment representatives. Conference participants will receive professional development hours credit.
Conference presentations will include Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MoDOT) increased density initiative; longitudinal joint construction and preservation; intelligent compaction and infrared scanning; nuclear density testing inlcuding basics, tradeoffs, expectations, warm mix overlays in cold weather and undersealing; MoDOT’s asset management plan; maintenance treatments for low-volume roads; high-friction surface treatments; proper use and storage of emulsions; new patching material products; an update on high air void-designed mixes; new longitudinal joint enhancement products; balanced mix design including cracking and rutting; fiber-reinforced test section case history; paving geosynthetics: selection and application; MoDOT’s binder requirements; performance testing in Missouri; shadow implementation of performance-related specification changes; MoDOT’s micro-surface specification changes; MoDOT’s current research; Missouri Asphalt Pavement Association update; pavement economics: the cost of quality; and MoROAD.
