The Miner League Theatre Players at Missouri University of Science and Technology will begin its theater season with four performances of the play “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare … Abridged” this fall.
Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29; Friday, Sept. 30; and Saturday, Oct. 1. A matinee performance will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. All performances will take place in the Black Box Theatre, Room 143 Castleman Hall, located at 10th and Main streets in Rolla.
“The Complete Works of William Shakespeare … Abridged” is a comedy originally written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer and Jess Winfield. It parodies the plays of William Shakespeare, with versions being performed in a comically shortened form by a limited number of actors. The fourth wall is nonexistent in the performance with the actors speaking directly to the audience during much of the play.
The play is produced by Missouri S&T’s Alpha Psi Omega theater service chapter Psi Nu. The performances will be directed by Daniel Sloan, a senior in biological sciences from Cameron, Missouri.
Tickets are $5 for general admission. To reserve tickets, email smorgan@mst.edu. Tickets cannot be purchased through the Leach Theatre Box Office for these performances. The Black Box Theatre has a maximum capacity of 65, so reserving tickets in advance is recommended.
